How to choose the warmest possible windows: the role of the profile, the glass unit and installation quality in the thermal performance of metal-plastic windows. Correctly chosen and fitted windows can raise indoor temperature by up to 5 °C.
Special attention goes to an innovative reinforcement-free profile and the European declaration of conformity.
What the video shows
- instead of steel reinforcement the innovative profile uses the RAU-FIPRO composite — the absence of metal rules out thermal bridges;
- combined with a double-chamber low-e insulating glass unit, this delivers high thermal insulation;
- a glass unit's insulation depends on the number of chambers, the low-e coating and the argon or krypton fill;
- installation with sealants and vapour- and waterproofing tapes makes the opening airtight and eliminates draughts;
- the declaration of conformity (CE) confirms the product is safe and may be sold on the EU market;
- quality windows can last up to 50 years.
Cutting costs on materials and installation can negate the advantages of even a high-quality window.
